The Costa Rica North Guanacaste is known for its tropical beaches and surfing. This region includes northern pacific coast from the border to Nicaragua down the town of Tamarindo and Santa Cruz. The Northern Guanacaste region includes the Golfo de Papagayo. This gulf has been developed for the all-inclusive, large resort market.

The North Guanacaste is home to a number of main attractions and destinations. The beach towns of Tamarindo, Playa del Coco, and Ocotal are a couple of the popular places. Here you can find beautiful beaches, great surfing, diving off the northern coast, and plenty of nightlife. The region is accessible from San Jose but recently an International Airport was built in Liberia making the northern part of the region even easier to get to.

This region enjoys hot temperatures throughout the year with little, if any, rain through the months of December - March. You will see more rain in the September ? November period, but not as much as in other regions.
